Frequently Asked Questions
Q. I have an idea in mind, but I can’t see it on your website?
Can you design it for me?
A. Yes - we love to work on new challenges!
Just telephone or send us an email and we’ll provide a quotation.
Q. I like one of your wedding cake designs but can I have it in a different shape and colour?
A. Of course. We can adapt the shape and colour to suit your scheme.
Q. How long in advance should I order my cake?
A. Normally 4 - 6 weeks for novelty cakes, but wedding cakes will require 3-4 months notice, particularly during
peak season. Whilst short notice bookings can sometimes be accommodated, for your peace of mind we
advise you book early.
Q. Can I make a design appointment to discuss my cake?
A. Appointments can be made by prior arrangement for wedding cake consultations, either in our Cake Studio,
or at a mutually convenient meeting place. For smaller design projects, and due to time constraints, we will be
more than happy to assist you accurately and efficiently via e-mail or telephone.
Q. On a multi-tiered cake does each layer have to be the same flavour?
A. No. You can have a mixture of flavours for each tier or stack.
Q. Can I have a three dimensional novelty cake made from rich fruit?
A. Unfortunately fruit cake is not suitable for carved cakes where smooth finished surfaces are required.
Q. I would like to keep the models, figures and flowers from my cake.
What would be the best way to preserve them?
A. Place them in a airtight container with some anti-moisture crystals.
Q. How can I store any left over cake? Can I freeze it?
A. All our cakes are freshly baked to order and we do not use any preservatives to artificially prolong the shelf life,
so your cake will be at its best when it is delivered. Rich fruit cake can be stored in an airtight container for several
months by wrapping in a base layer of parchment, followed by aluminium foil and finally cling film.
Other cakes such as sponge will keep for up to five days if stored in a cool place.
We have several clients who have told us that they have frozen sponge cakes successfully.
